2013! Welcome!  I have to say that I was excited to welcome a new year but yesterday  spent some time thinking about all that the past year as brought me @ my favorite little yoga studio here in the district.  From Kigali and back to DC, starting grad school and adopting a little pup its been a big one for this 27 year old.  I am excited to start yet another new year that will bring a wedding for my little sis {and serving as her moh}, living with my best friend from third grade {we have actually lived in the same city since elementary school} and yes new travels {that will hopefully get me back to Kigali @ some point}!
!Bring it on 2013! I have a feeling its going to be a good one!

The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You’d be surprised how far that gets you.

{half the sky}

Tonight marked the premier of Half the Skya global movement to increase awareness about the challenges women face around the world and inspiring stories of women/ girls who are overcoming them on a daily basis.  Its an outstanding series and one that is worthy of everyone’s time, money and energy.

If you missed tonight’s premier you can catch the conclusion tomorrow night on PBS at 9.

{love cats}

like many 20 something ladies around the country, i love the show so you think you can dance.  there were so many great performances on the show this year and tonight marked the season finale!  my favorite season number was hands down love cats.  i loved everything about the choregraphy, costumes and music.

i also just adored amelia’s leopard body suit and i secretly {i guess not so secret anymore} want to buy it!  but i guess my recently purchased dv oxford loafers will have to meet my leopard craze right now.  until i can make moves like amelia, i think the body suit will have to take a back seat to my rockin new shoes….

{back in action +1}
Well I have to confess, I have totally dropped the ball on the blogging front the past few months.  Since getting back from Rwanda, life has moved fast and this girl has been trying to keep up!
Since returning from Africa {which I still have photos to post}, I have decided to start grad school, furnished a new apartment and got a dog! Big changes, but great ones at that.  Here is a photo of me and the pup.  Her name is Nani and she is downright wonderful.
Well I have to say, its good to be back {in the us and on fredalou} and cant wait to get this blog up and running again!
